We’re excited to invite you to a CommonSense Club meeting hosted by Oklahoma United in Shawnee on Monday, January 27. This will be the FIRST CommonSense Club meeting since the filing of State Question 836, the initiative petition to bring open primaries to Oklahoma, and we're thrilled to be kicking off the year in the Pottawatomie County Seat.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a dialogue with Oklahoma United members and supporters of SQ 836. As you know, this initiative proposes a constitutional change to replace Oklahoma’s exclusionary closed primary system with open primaries, ensuring that every registered voter has a voice in the elections their tax dollars fund.
As Oklahoma United Founder and CEO Margaret Kobos says, “Open primaries are about fairness and inclusion. This is a chance for the Shawnee community to learn more about how SQ 836 can strengthen our democracy and empower voters. We invite everyone to join us for this important conversation about our state’s future.”
Speakers Include:
Margaret Kobos, Founder and CEO of Oklahoma United
Julie Knutson, President and CEO of The Oklahoma Academy
Kris Steele, Former Republican Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives
Tony Stobbe, SQ 836 Petitioner and U.S. Coast Guard Veteran
