For the first time in recent memory, it’s impossible to ignore the growing civic engagement in Oklahoma.

In my 15 years living in Tulsa, I’ve never seen the level of energy and interest in government and reform that I’ve witnessed over the past few months. Conversations around voting rights, immigration and accountability are bringing Oklahomans of all ages and viewpoints together.

State Question 836 offers Oklahomans another way to enhance our democracy. SQ836 would create open primaries, replacing closed partisan primaries with a system where every voter can participate. All candidates for a given office would appear on a single ballot with their party affiliation. The top two vote-getters would move on to the general election.
