Oklahoma United and Vote Yes 836 invite the public to attend a Feb. 11 meeting hosted by the League of Women Voters of Bartlesville to discuss the effort to bring open primaries to Oklahoma. Attendees will engage in a dialogue with members of OK United and supporters of State Question 836, the ballot initiative proposing a constitutional change that would end closed partisan primaries in Oklahoma. The meeting will take place at the Bartlesville Public Library at 7PM. It is free and open to the public.
“Open primaries are about fairness and inclusion,” said Margaret Kobos, Founder and President of Oklahoma United. “This is a chance for the Bartlesville community to learn more about how SQ 836 can strengthen our democracy and empower voters. We invite everyone to join us for this important conversation about our state’s future.”
Currently, Oklahoma’s closed primary system locks hundreds of thousands of voters out of elections, leading to Oklahoma’s last-in-the-nation ranking for voter participation. SQ 836 proposes open primaries, ensuring every registered voter can participate in meaningful elections.

The event will include a presentation on the benefits of open primaries, followed by a Q&A session. The meeting is free and open to the public, and all Bartlesville community members are encouraged to attend. RSVPs are appreciated at https://ok-united.org/upcoming-events.
